We suppose it was inevitable. After loving Silver Lake for the last six years, working diligently to find the best vintage furniture for all our wonderful friends and clients we received a letter from the owner of our building. Without discussion, we were coldly informed that our lease would not be renewed when it expires at the end of April 2008, would we please drop off the keyes when we are through. Thank you very much. I suppose that there shouldn't be any surprise at all since our repeated requests to negotiate a new lease have gone unanswered for the past year. First we were shocked, then angry, then resigned, then angry. How can they do this? Don't they know how hard we've worked, how much we love Silver Lake? Now bargaining ... maybe if ... there are a few more stages of grief yet to go through. We love our store. We love our neighborhood. We will have to get over it. So after much soul searching and head scratching there's no choice but to pack it up and move along. While we'll no longer be a daily presence in the Sunset Junction, Sunset ORANGE will live on. We will be relocating to an as yet undetermined space in the newly resurrected, off the hook cool Downtown LA scene. We are certain that the universe has bigger ideas in store for us. Our energies will be focused on our new Interior Design firm launched at the beginning of 2007, INSPIRED LIVING INTERIORS. When one door closes, another one opens. We truly believe this to be true.
